Made with ripe, juicy raspberries, rich cocoa, and a touch of almond butter, this dairy-free raspberry chocolate smoothie tastes like an indulgent dessert! Dairy-free and it whips up in minutes!

Chocolate Smoothie in a Glass with Two Straws and Fresh Raspberries on Top.

I mentioned a while back that I have a new found love of smoothies. I'm still making them just about every weekend, and I suspect that will continue, at least through the end of summer. So I figured, why not share my creations with you guys, at least when I can.

I LOVE this particular smoothie because (1) it features one of my favorite flavors of all-time: chocolate; (2) it includes one of my favorite berries, which happens to pair deliciously with chocolate: raspberries; and (3) it tastes like dessert but is actually kind of healthy (raspberries and chocolate are very nutritious!).

    Ingredient Notes

    • Bananas. You're going to want bananas that are pretty ripe and just bordering on overripe. Definitely don't use green bananas. Break your bananas into a few pieces and freeze them. I like to keep a bag full of frozen bananas in the freezer for whenever a raspberry chocolate smoothie craving hits!
    • Raspberries. The recipe calls for fresh raspberries, but feel free to use frozen raspberries when they're not in season.
    • Non-dairy milk. Use your favorite variety!
    • Cocoa powder. Cacao powder (which is the same as cocoa powder, but it's raw) can also be used.
    • Almond butter.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Is this smoothie gluten-free?

    It sure is!

How can I make my smoothie sweeter?

Add a bit of liquid sweetener such as maple syrup or agave nectar.

What kind of blender makes the best smoothies?

I'm partial to Vitamix and find that it creates the smoothest smoothies in the least amount of time. But any old blender will work! I used a budget Ninja for years and my smoothies were nothing less than wonderful!

How can I increase the protein content of my berry chocolate smoothie?

Add a scoop of a vegan protein powder, such as Vega or or Orgain.
